Maintaining and saving your teeth is our priority, but there are cases when a tooth may be beyond repair, and tooth extraction may be the most appropriate solution. To help you feel more relaxed and comfortable during your appointment, we may also offer you a local anaesthetic or sedation if you suffer from dental anxiety.
When your tooth is fully visible and doesn’t require any surgical interference, simple tooth extraction can be done within a single appointment. You may be given a local anaesthetic to relieve any possible discomfort during the treatment. Simple extractions are usually quick.
Sometimes a tooth may be badly broken and not visible above the gum. In this case, a small cut may be required to help the dentist extract your tooth.
It is quite common for wisdom teeth to erupt below the gum, and it can cause issues with other teeth. In some cases, a wisdom tooth may also require removal when it’s severely decayed, injured or puts the front teeth at risk.
