Sinus Lifts & Bone Regeneration

Many of our patients who visit us for a dental implant treatment can undergo the procedure without any preparations. However, some patients may require a sinus lift or a bone graft prior to their dental implants to allow secure bonding to the jaw.

At Kent Smile Studio, we are proud of our innovative approach to dental issues in cases where the patient may previously not have been able to receive the implant treatment they require. We offer these two bone augmentation treatments to provide them with the opportunity to enjoy secure and long-lasting replacement teeth. Bone Regeneration

When a patient has had a tooth missing for a long time, the jawbone related to that tooth may naturally degrade and waste away. This may cause some aesthetic issues such as changes in the shape of the face and jawbone. When this happens, there may not be enough bone to support a dental implant.

How does it work?

Tiny pieces of biomaterials are positioned in a precise area, based on where the implant is due to take place. The material and the bone existing in the area will fuse over time, creating a stable and secure base in which to place your implant.

Sinus lift

A sinus lift is performed when the upper jaw requires implants, but there is not enough bone available to support the implant. It may also be performed when the sinuses are too close for the procedure to take place safely.

This procedure is completed in order to lift the sinus floor high enough to ensure it is not in the way of where the implants need to go. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic to ensure your comfort.

How does it work?

Our implant dentist will make a small gum incision at the back of the upper jaw to carefully and precisely lift the sinus membrane. A bone graft will then be placed so that the sinus effectively has a new floor. Following the lifting procedure, the gum is stitched and left to heal for around 3 months before the dental implant procedure can take place.
